Bloating affects everyone and some people everyday. Bloating can make you feel sluggish and heavy. The extra bulge can even make you look 10 -20 pounds heavier. It’s annoying and people go to extreme measures to get rid of it.
Unfortunately chronic bloating is almost NEVER corrected by conventional weight-loss diets. The standard American weight loss diet is a diet coke and low calorie processed meal. Reduced-calorie and “diet” foods make matters WORSE. These diets also fail at addressing the root cause.
Bloating is actually a sign of chronic systemic inflammation specifically gut inflammation. When the gut becomes inflamed, calcium and sodium enter the surrounding cells, which causes them to hold water. Your body is drawing water into the tissue around your gut to try to flush out toxins. This extra water causes the bloating.
The BIGGEST culprits of gut inflammation are
- processed foods
- conventional meat & dairy
- excess sugar
- alcohol
- pain killers
- antibiotics
- and some autoimmune diseases
The good news is you can reverse inflammation by eating nutrient dense whole foods and reducing or eliminating processed/packaged foods. As the inflammation calms the body often returns to a non-bloated state and healthy weight.
Specific foods that will fight inflammation and decrease bloating include
- onions
- garlic
- celery
- turmeric
- ginger
- dark leafy greens
- cold water fish
- coconut oil
- wild blueberries
- organic broccoli
- chia seeds

Turmeric Tea a.k.a. GOLDEN MILK
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk of choice ( I use this brand of coconut)
- 1 tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- pinch of ground black pepper
- 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup or vanilla stevia to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth.
- Pour into a small saucepan and heat for 3-5 minutes over medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
- Drink immediately.
I Like to have a cup right before bed!
