girl-thinking-1024x682 What Exactly Should I Eat To Be Healthy?

Healthy food choices and healthy eating do not need to be complicated you just have to know what to look for! This can be VERY confusing because we are bombarded daily with mixed messages about what IS and what is NOT healthy to eat!

The labels we read daily look something like this; Gluten Free, sugar free, all natural, high in protein, keto, ancient grain, paleo, dairy free, low carb, vegan, etc etc... Its confusing and frustrating often leading to defeat or just throwing in the towel.

Nutrition is very highly individualized and following a fad diet is about the WORST thing you can do to improve your health. You need to look at the quality of your food choices first. This is a general process everyone can do to assure what they are putting into their bodies is going to be beneficial and not toxic in the long run.

The first step to wellness is to get informed and make good food choices from that! For example, certain non-organic fruits such as berries are high in pesticides. Pesticides can not be washed off. Pesticides build up in your body over time and can wreak havoc on your health. Aim to eat organic fruits and veggies as much as you can vs. conventional. This will dramatically reduce your exposure to toxins and is ultimately the healthier food choice.

Whether you are at a grocery store, restaurant, graduation party, grandma’s house or at home these are the things you should be looking into when making healthy food choices! If you can check off most if not all of these requirements than you have most likely scored some healthy REAL nourishing food.

  • ORGANIC
  • FRESHLY MADE
  • MADE IN A KITCHEN AND NOT A FACTORY
  • NATURAL and GROWN FROM THE GROUND
  • COMES FROM RESPONSIBLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS
  • HOMEGROWN
  • INGREDIENTS FROM LOCAL PRODUCERS
  • TRANS FAT FREE
  • ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER FREE
  • ALLERGY FRIENDLY (gluten free or free from processed grains)
  • MADE FROM SCRATCH
  • SOURCED FROM FARM TO TABLE
  • PASTURE RAISED MEAT & POULTRY
  • WILD FISH & SEAFOOD
  • NONGMO

Remember that living a healthy lifestyle is not a complicated process. Every time you sit down to eat count NUTRIENTS over CALORIES! The more nutrient dense a meal the better!

Now that you know what to look for you can seek out healthier foods that will nourish and revive your health!

Eat healthy food, exercise, get enough sleep, get outside in the sun, de-stress, deep breaths, and prayer/meditation are general guidelines that can serve us all well in health and wellness!

Be Well! 🙂
