When kids don’t eat what you make for them it can be frustrating. You can encourage, persuade, and in desperate times beg your kid to eat but if they refuse there is not much more you can do. Or is there?  My kids are fairly good eaters usually finding something that appeals to them at each meal but I do have one who is picky. Usually, after one bite of food, she often proclaims she is ” SO FULL” she can NOT eat another bite.

Of course as her mom I worry if she meets all her nutritional needs but I pretty much get that covered by making sure she has her multivitamin, probiotic, and fish oil everyday. When she is enthusiastic about eating a meal I make sure that meal is packed full of nutrition. I figure all in all she is getting by with enough and I don’t worry so much. She is happy, growing, and thriving and rarely sick so that tells me a lot!

When your child won’t eat a meal it can be tempting to feel you need to make them one way or another.  But the answer is DON’T. Seriously don’t force your kid to eat if they don’t want to!  The key is that the times they do want to eat or are more wiling to eat and try things make sure the meal is NUTRIENT DENSE. This means packed full of healthy fats, clean protein, and complex carbohydrates.

One way I have found to pack a nutritional punch on the days that seem lacking is to make my daughter warm sweet milk. It may sound simple but the ingredients pack a nutritional PUNCH!  I’m telling you to make this drink for your child who is refusing breakfast or any meal for that matter and put it in a fun mug.  I promise you they will drink it, love it, and you will have peace of mind that you just got them to actually drink a healthy meal in a mug!

Here are the ingredients to this SECRET Warm Sweet Milk that will NOURISH your child from the inside out!

WARM SWEET MILK

1 cup milk – pastured raw milk is going to offer the most nutrients (protein, fats, carbohydrates) but you can also use full fat coconut milk.

1 Tablespoon collagen (protein)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (healthy fat)

1 teaspoon cacao powder (magnesium for enhanced focus and mood boost)

1 packet sweet leaf brand stevia (all natural 100% organic sweetener)

Warm milk on stove top and stir in ingredients.  If you have a hand blender that helps to really blend everything up and give a creamy texture.

Worry no more as your child is getting some super nutrition from this delicious drink!

Be Well!
