Berries are among some of the healthiest foods on earth! Just a few servings a week goes a long way in maintaining better health!
Athletes can benefit tremendously by supplementing their training with BERRIES! Adding berries into your daily diet will help you build strength, sustain energy, and recover faster. The antioxidants in berries such as vitamins A, C, and E help protect against oxidative stress that builds up in the body during strenuous exercise and workouts.
Berries contain some of the highest amounts of antioxidants. Berries are also high in fiber which is important for healthy digestion.
There are many different varieties of berries. Try throwing them into your post-workout smoothie or just eating as a snack with some raw nuts. My kids loves to snack on frozen organic berries for a sweet treat! Anyway you can get in about 1 cup of berries in a day is great!
NOTE: Berries are some of the most highly sprayed with pesticide fruits and therefore are on the “dirty dozen” list. They contain high amounts of pesticide residue. Washing does not remove these harmful pesticides. For that reason berries should be purchased organic if possible. If not in season try checking out the freezer in your grocery store. You can usually find frozen organic berries year round (just make sure there are no added sugars)!
