“Mom can we have some hot chocolate?”

Does this sound familiar in your house?

Forget the powdered stuff and make your own! Typical hot cocoa mix is a scary concoction of preservatives, processed sugar or corn syrup, trans fats, and chemicals made to taste like chocolate. YUCK! I surely won’t drink it and I don’t want my kids to either!! Considering how much they ask for it in the winter, homemade hot cocoa is just as easy and very nutritious!

My version looks like this…

Homemade HOT COCOA

INGREDIENTS 

4 Cups raw grass fed organic milk (or organic grass fed NON-Homogenized full fat milk)

4 Teaspoons organic cacao powder – **raw cacao powder has more than 300 phytochemicals and contains protein, calcium, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, magnesium, and sulfur.

Stevia to sweeten

Warm milk on stove stirring slowly to melt and mix in cacao. Next add in 100% stevia liquid drops or 2-3 packets to sweeten(serves 3-4).   YUM! Enjoy this healthy goodness!!


 WARM CREAMY CHAI TEA

INGREDIENTS 

Tulsi Masala Chai tea  

***Tulsi Tea- TULSI (also known as Holy Basil) is considered “The Queen of Herbs” and is revered as a sacred plant infused with healing power. Tulsi’s life-enhancing qualities are noted repeatedly in ancient Indian scriptures dating back 5,000 years! It offers a spicy delicious taste to this tea!

Coconut oil (super duper healthy fat!)

Raw organic grass fed cream (another healthy fat full of vitamins, calcium, and protein)

Stevia (safe natural sweetener)

Directions

Bring 1 cup of water to boil and using a tea basket steep 1 heaping tsp loose tea for 5 minutes. Remove tea and add in 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1-2 Tablespoons cream, and 1 stevia packet to sweeten. Mix up with a hand blender for a smooth frothy finish.

Sip slowly and enjoy! Warm, nutritious, replenishing goodness for you and the kiddos you can feel good about!
